Photo Friday: The Fading Scars of War

A trip to Vietnam would not have been complete without delving into the history of the war that, at one time, split this country down the middle.  From Hue we took a tour of the DMZ (De-militarized zone) with a Vietnamese war veteran.  What was once an area decimated by bombs, dreaded by the army and avoided by the locals has, in the space of only 40 years, retained very little trace of the terror which once reigned here.  What remains are reminders of how deadly differences in ideology can become.

We took our tour with Stop and Go cafe, who charge a little more but offer a small group and a veteran guide.  I would highly reccommend that anyone considering a tour of the DMZ choose this tour (around $25) over the cheaper $15 tours.
